Welcome to a 60 second tutorial on how to use this site. This is a page for people who haven't used a wiki and so need some basic pointers. If you are already familiar with wikis and need some help with Mediawiki features, perhaps you should look at the Mediawiki FAQs.
This is a site that uses Mediawiki as the foundation. Perhaps you recognise the format from Wikipedia. In fact Mediawiki was built for Wikipedia and is now used by several other sites for its simplicity.
One can use this site in two modes. First is to read. Most of the important links are on the left hand pane. Do use it for navigation. Second mode is the edit mode. You would need this for registering your participation or for proposing a session. We'll delve a bit deeper into this.
All pages on this site are editable unless we are forced to lock down any page for reasons such as vandalism etc. The two most frequently edited pages are Registration and Topics. One can edit by clicking the Tab called "edit" above or by clicking on link (edit) that appear on the right hand top of some sections. In the first case you can edit the entire page while in the second only a section is oprn for edit. Feel free to choose either. For adding your name or session, just go to the bottom of the list and add your details as suggested in the head of the list. For any of the formatting, use the buttons at the top of the edit box. Click on the preview button at the bottom of the page to check if it appears as you wish. If it looks good, click on the save button at the bottom to save and exit. That's it. You're done.
Sometimes there may be mistakes by users in a editable site like this. For example, there was one time when someone deleted over a hundred names from the registration list by mistake. But not to worry. Its easy to fix. One just needs to look at history and revert back to the original state. You can do it yourself. Or one of the planners would notice and set it back. We do keep a watch to check on any such problem.
Do remember all pages are editable. Including this one. Do edit it to make it better. Don't have to ask anyone. Just go ahead and do it. Thanks for making it better! :)
